Hamilton PRP-C18 Column is a durable and effective column for general purpose HPLC and is especially well-suited for specialized applications in the clinical, pharmaceutical, environmental, food, forensics, and life sciences industries.
Advantages of PRP-C18 Polymeric Reversed-Phase Columns
Reproducibility
Hamilton PRP-C18 reversed-phase columns are ideal for applications that require a high degree of column-to-column and batch to batch consistency (e.g., quality assurance, clinical trials). Because of the unique polymer bonding of the C18 to the PS-DVB support, PRP-C18 columns maintain their performance characteristics longer than many traditional C8 or C18 silica columns. While many column manufacturers rely on other sources for their raw silica support, Hamilton manufactures its PRP-C18 support, assuring a consistent supply of PRP-C18 columns.
Long Life (Excellent Durability)
Hamilton PRP-C18 is a new column designed to provide high-efficiency reversed-phase separations over an extended column life in nearly any mobile phase or pH. The rigid stationary phase has excellent mechanical and thermal stability (>100°C), is pressure stable up to 5,000 psi, is highly cross-linked to prevent shrinkage or swelling (common in other polymeric columns) and is completely inert to most conditions commonly encountered in reversed-phase chromatography. The PRP-C18 demonstrates pH stability even after prolonged exposure to concentrated (1 molar) NaOH and H2SO4 with no measurable deterioration in performance, making restoration to original performance readily achievable where it is not possible with traditional HPLC columns. PRP-C18 columns last 3 to 4 times longer than silica-based columns under most conditions due to the chemical durability of the base support.
