Connect Edge is an agnostic, professional grade 24/7 remote monitoring system for laboratory equipment and devices designed to help protect and manage vital products and samples. This system features customizable parameters, live alarms, notifications and cost-effective Connect Edge hardware that can collect data from 10 or more instruments. InstrumentConnect Monitor Subscriptions provide access to remote cloud monitoring through desktop or mobile application. Subscriptions may be purchased a-la-carte or as part of a gateway + subscription package for greater savings. One subscription per device.

Thermo Fisher™ Connect Edge is a professional-grade remote monitoring system for laboratory equipment and other devices to help protect samples and increase asset management efficiencies. Connect Edge can send data to the Thermo Fisher Cloud or to your own premise-based system using OPC-UA protocol. Connect Edge is compatible with 600+ Thermo Fisher Scientific laboratory equipment makes and models.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Equipment Telemetry

• For cold storage equipment, Connect Edge reports ambient and cabinet temperature data recorded by resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) built into the unit; the remote monitoring system also reports alarms and events, as well as other system-based diagnostic data points to the InstrumentConnect application.
• For CO2 incubators, Connect Edge reports chamber temperatures, gas levels, alarms and alerts received via the incubator data output connection to the InstrumentConnect application.

System Hardware

• Device Adapter-Palm-size adapters collect and transmit data from lab equipment/devices to gateways using Ethernet (WAN) connectivity or Wi-Fi.
• Connect Edge Gateway-Receives data from device adapters to send to InstrumentConnect (cloud) or customer-premise system/cloud via OPC-UA™ using Ethernet (WAN) connectivity or Wi-Fi.

• InstrumentConnect Integrate (OPC-UA): Utilize the Connect Edge system to collect and transmit data to your own premise-based system. The Connect Edge gateway can be enabled as an OPC server for 10 or more devices.

Network

You can connect 10 device adapters to each Connect Edge gateway. Gateways can accommodate greater than 10 devices, however this is determined by reviewing CPU usage after you have reached this initial quantity after initial set up. Deciding which topology is applicable to your setting will determine the number of gateways you will need.

Connect Edge system has 3 main topologies

• Direct Wi-Fi-Device adapters are configured to transmit data directly to your Connect Edge gateway (10 max per gateway). Your device adapters must be in proximity (50-150 feet) to the gateway.
• Single/Dual Network-Device adapters are configured to connect to your local network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi and transmit data to the Connect Edge gateway, also on the same network. This topology is ideal if devices to be monitored are not within proximity to each other or a gateway.

Building your system

• Determine type (Ethernet-only/WiFi+Ethernet) and quantity of gateway(s) needed based on network topology preference
• Select compatible device adapter for your lab equipment
• Purchase an InstrumentConnect Monitor or Integrate subscription for each device
• Determine whether self-install or professional-install is desired (where available)

The Connect Edge system is available for purchase in packages or a-la-carte. Each package includes one Connect Edge gateway (Wi-Fi/Ethernet or Ethernet-only options) and varying quantities of subscriptions. We provide a built-in gateway discount for all packages. Save more per subscription with 3 and 5-year packages.
