Isolate Legionella from water samples using Thermo Scientific™ Legionella BCYE Medium with Antibiotics, a selective medium that conforms to ISO11731:2016 Water quality – Enumeration of Legionella and exhibits optimal recovery of Legionellaceae in short incubation periods from environmental samples.
Legionella are aerobic, motile, nutritionally fastidious, pleomorphic, gram-negative rods that require special growth factors in culture media to grow. Legionella BCYE Medium with Antibiotics is a recommended medium for the isolation of Legionella from water samples:
- Yields optimal recovery in a short incubation period
- Conforms to ISO11731:2016 standards
- Quality control tested according to ISO11133:2014, including membrane filtration method
- Selective against non-target bacteria like Enterococcus faecalis and Escherichia coli
- Easy-to-read results as Legionella form gray-blue colonies
