Description
Sodium bromide is used in the preparation of bromides and as a source of bromide ion. It also finds its applications in drilling fluid additives, and weighting agent. It is employed in , Oil gas production, hydraulic fracturing, and fracking. It is also used in photography, to make bromides and organic chemicals, as a therapeutic sedative and hypnotic, and formerly as a veterinary medicine. It also finds its applications to control algae, bacteria, and fungi in water systems (pasteurizing, canning, pulp & paper manufacturing, and ornamental ponds); and used to repel moths from clothing and fleas from pets.
