Toluene, 99%, Thermo Scientific Chemicals
Description
Toluene is used as solvent for paints, paint thinners, silicone sealants, many chemical reactants, rubber, printing ink, adhesives (glues), lacquers, leather tanners and disinfectants. It is an important raw material to synthesize pharmaceuticals, paints, resins, dyes, toluene diisocyanate and explosives like trinitrotoluene. It is used as a standard material for chromatography and an analytical reagent. It plays an important role in the manufacture of benzene, xylene, phenol, poly urethane polymers, cosmetics and jet fuel blends. It is used as a fuel additive to increase octane ratings and as a coolant for its good heat transfer capabilities in sodium cold traps used in nuclear reactor system loops.
This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. The original Alfa Aesar product / item code or SKU reference has not changed as a part of the brand transition to Thermo Scientific Chemicals.
