Beads and Boiling Aids
Beads and Boiling Aids
Chemically resistant spherical beads are used for a variety of purposes. Some common applications include reducing bumping during boiling, refluxing or other distilling operations, as mixing beads, as boiling stones, or to pack distillation columns. When used with boiling liquids or a hot plate, stop boiling material from escaping from its vessel. Generally made from soda-lime glass or borosilicate glass, glass beads are resistant to most cold and hot liquids, as well as vapors. The beads are durable and do not disintegrate or interact with delicate compounds. Glass beads are reusable and should be cleaned following each use.
