Description
Sodium Pyruvate is commonly added to cell culture medium as an energy source in addition to glucose. Since the cells make sodium pyruvate as an intermediate metabolite in the glycolysis pathway, it is not necessary to supplement all cultures. However, if the cells have been grown in medium supplemented with sodium pyruvate, we recommend the supplementation is continued as the cells become accustomed to this addition and their growth will lag without it. Gibco™ Sodium Pyruvate, 100 mM Solution is formulated as 11 g per liter of water. The final concentration of sodium pyruvate used in most cell culture medium is 1 mM.Product Use
For in vitro diagnostic use.
