Forceps and Tweezers
Forceps and Tweezers
Tools used for gripping, manipulation, or extraction of typically small or delicate objects. Products may be constructed of disposable plastics, autoclavable plastics, stainless steel, titanium, or other durable, corrosion-resistant or chemical-resistant material, and may be designed with shaped tips to facilitate specific applications such as surgery and dissection. Plastic versions may be supplied sterile in individual packs for use in cleanrooms and other controlled environments.
Tweezer and Forceps Applications
• In the laboratory for manipulation of small or delicate objects, e.g., microscope coverslips and filter discs or papers
• In clinical settings for dissection and examination of tissue and other biological samples
• In cleanroom or other controlled environments to avoid direct handing and help maintain sterility or cleanliness
• In industrial settings in manufacturing, electronics, and fine engineering (such as watchmaking) for manipulation of small components
Tweezer and Forceps Size, Style, and Design Variations
• Pointed, blunt, rounded, curved, angled, or flat tips
• Plain or serrated inner surfaces for extra grip
• Scissor-type handles
• Defined dimensions for precision work
• Foam or silicone-covered handles or tips for extra grip
• Self-closing/locking guide pins to keep the tips aligned for a firmer grip
